Cover Design Assistance
If you need cover design assistance, Morris Publishing® offers 3 Design Packages. You may provide an original cover design idea or get a jump start by using one of 15 Cover Templates.
We will send a FREE cover proof for your approval before we print your book. Design or illustration changes are subject to additional charges based on our examination. Edits on second or subsequent proofs may also be subject to additional charges.
The prices listed with the Design Packages are for design charges only. We will typeset the front and back covers and spine at no charge. Charges for printing with ink colors other than our in-house cover inks or using multiple colors or full-color still apply.
Note: Children's hardcover pricing includes FREE full-color front and back cover printing.
Need a Cover Image?
Visit www.shutterstock.com for access to thousands of royalty-free photos, artwork, and background images. Search for images by typing in descriptive key words and clicking "Search." Provide the image I.D. number with your cover specifications. Note: Images labeled "Editorial Use Only" cannot be used.

Custom Two-Color Cover Design
From your ideas, we'll create simple custom covers that only use type and black/white photos or illustrations you provide. If photo manipulation or more than two inks are required, use Design Package 2.
Cover Templates Using Two Colors
Your cover is created using a Cover Template. Templates are used as is except for size adjustments to photo or illustration areas. If photo manipulation or more than two inks are required, use Design Package 2. Download our Cover Template Guide (PDF 2.3MB) for details.
Custom Multi- or Full-Color Designs
Package includes black/white or color photos or simple line art supplied by the author. Photos and artwork can be manipulated, such as eliminating backgrounds, combining two photos, making duotones, or applying color. Simple, original line art can be designed by one of our artists.
Cover Templates Using Three or More Colors
Use a Cover Template printed in three inks or full-color. Templates are used as is except for size adjustments to photo or illustration areas. Backgrounds or photos other than those offered by Morris Publishing may be submitted for scanning. Download our Cover Template Guide (PDF 2.3MB) for details.
The $175 charge includes up to 5 hours of design. Additional time will be charged at $40/hour.
Custom Multi- or Full-Color Cover Designs
Submit a sketch or detailed description of the cover. Submit complex line art or request our artist to create it. Complex line art can include shading, cross-hatching, or stippling. Photos and artwork can be manipulated, such as eliminating backgrounds, combining two photos, making duotones, or applying color.
The $275 charge includes up to 8 hours of design. Additional time will be charged at $40/hour.
