Step 3: Prepare Your Cover
Your cover is important to your book’s success. Good design motivates sales. An effective title, striking graphics, and interesting colors all contribute to an attractive cover. We offer 3 options to help you create the perfect cover, and you'll always receive a FREE cover proof for your approval. Printing text on the spine of perfect-bound books requires 90 minimum pages.
All paperback covers are printed on heavy, durable cover stock and include FREE UV coating to add durability and improve color brilliance. For even more durability, choose plastic lamination for an extra charge.
Note: Full-color hardcover books include FREE full-color front and back cover printing and linen-finish plastic lamination.
If you are publishing a full-color hardcover book, download our Press-Ready Hardcover Guide (PDF) for cover specifications.
2Cover Design Assistance
If you prefer a custom cover but need help, our design team offers cover design assistance and many options to help you create an eye-catching cover. Cover designs can be in one-, multiple-, or full-color and can include photos, line drawings, paintings, or other artwork.
Custom Back Covers
The back cover is an important part of your book. It serves as a mini-billboard, encouraging sales. Consider including the book’s description, benefits, reviews, testimonials, author information and photo, and technical features such as ISBN, bar code, and price. The back cover will be printed in the same ink colors as selected for the front cover at no extra charge. However, if you use any additional ink colors (not on the front cover), additional charges may apply. The back cover can be printed in full-color if the front cover is also printed in full-color.
